The U.S. Department of State to Present their former WRAMC Reuse Plan at

the ANC4A01 December 2nd Public Meeting

 

 

Washington, D.C. —November 29, 2013. The ANC4A01 Public Meeting will be

held on Monday, December 2, 2013. The Commissioner invites you to attend to

hear a Foreign Mission Centers reuse pan in relation to the proposed development

of a Foreign Missions Center (FMC) on the site of the former Walter Reed Army

Medical Center Campus in Washington, D.C. The meeting will take place at 7pm at

the Tifereth Israel Congregation located at 7701 16th Street, NW, Washington, DC.

Presentations will provide information on the planned Foreign Missions Center

reuse plan. Public involvement is a key ingredient in successful of the Foreign

Mission Center’s plan, and the views of the public will be collected and considered

throughout the process.

 

 

The US Department of State (DOS) plans to develop approximately 43.5 acres of

the western portion of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center campus as a Foreign

Missions Center (FMC) whereby foreign countries will have the opportunity to

construct chanceries. The FMC will be developed and modeled after the existing

International Chancery Center (ICC) in NW Washington DC.

 

 

Master planning for the development of the DOS portion of the Walter Reed

enclave for FMC will entail consideration for the surrounding neighborhoods, the

adjacent DCLRA development, as well as Historic Preservation and Environmental

analysis. The overarching goal will be to develop a master plan for the reuse and

repurposing of the site to meet the DOS program to house foreign chanceries on

the site.

 

 

The DOS reuse plans will impact the entire Ward 4 and not only ANC4A. Working

together as a community provides a source of special insight, information,

knowledge, and experience. The ANC4A01 December 2nd meeting is opened to

the public.
